Job Opportunity: 2 roles at Barrbunin Beek Gathering Place

We are currently looking for people to fill two new roles:

  • Barrbunin Beek Self-Determination Lead

  • Barrbunin Beek Health Officer


Both roles are  identified positions and are available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only.


Barrbunin Beek means ‘happy place’ in the Woi wurrung language. A dedicated space where people can come together, it allows the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to establish a place of community ownership, where knowledge can be shared and culture celebrated.


You’ll work as part of the First Nations service unit which leads and delivers innovative strategies for advancing self-determination in the community.

 

What you'll do?

Barrbunin Beek Self-Determination Lead

  • Working at Bar



    rbunin Beek Gathering Place, Heidelberg West, you will:

  • Establish a Social Enterprise: Develop foundational structures, recruit leadership, and secure funding for Barrbunin Beek.

  • Ensure Financial Sustainability: Secure ongoing funding and generate revenue from services to support long-term viability.

  • Lead Strategic Planning: Work with the Committee of Management to create and implement a strategic plan for the organisation's growth.

  • This is an opportunity to lead with purpose, shape the future of self-determination, and make a real difference in the lives of First Nations people.

  • A temporary part time opportunity – to 15 March 2027 working 17 hours per week.

 

Barrbunin Beek Health Officer

  • Working at Barrbunin Beek Gathering Place, Heidelberg West, you will:

  • Coordinate the Foodshare program and Mob Dinners program.

  • Strengthen existing programs that support our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Young People to connect through Culture and Food

  • Work with the team to develop and implement a new school holiday program and cooking program

  • Ensure sustainability of programs by strengthening existing and building new relationships with external organisations 

  • 12 Month Contract, part time opportunity working 16 hours per week
